India Adoption Criteria
Married couples with 2 years of marriage or 5 years of a stable relationship, are eligible to adopt from India.
Single women, age 30-45 years of age, are eligible to adopt from India.
The age difference between the single adoptive parent and the child should be 21 years or more.
Prospective adoptive parents having composite age of 90 years or less can adopt infants and young children. These provisions may be suitably relaxed in exceptional cases such as older children and children with special needs.
An adoptive parent cannot be less than 30 years old or more than 55 years old to adopt from India.
Same sex couples are not eligible to adopt from India.
A second adoption from India will be considered when the first adoption has been legally completed for the first adoption
