Healthy, male and female infants 7 months of
age, toddlers and older children up to sixteen year and sibling groups.
Travel Requirements and Length of Process:
There are two trips required. The
first trip is required for the court date set by the Commission of the
Cabinet of Ministers and requires two full business days and this trip
will be approximately 4-8 weeks after accepting a referral. A referral
can come any where from 1-6 months depending on the age and sex
requested. Approximately 30 days later you will return to Azerbaijan to
complete the adoption process. After 4 business days in Baku, the
family will travel to Tbilici, Georgia to the American Embassy to obtain
the exit visa for the child.
Criteria:
Married couples and single women
are eligible to adopt from Azerbaijan.
There are no age requirements.
You can have biological children in your home.
Interesting Facts:
Azerbaijani is a Muslim country.
The children reside in an orphanage. so much of what is written about
institutionalized children apply to the children of Azerbaijan also.
Typical they have brown hair and black or brown eyes, although some have
blonde hair.
